Are you a small, women-owned, or minority-owned business who wants to do business with the Commonwealth of Virginia?  Each year the state buys goods and services totaling more than $8 billion.  This workshop will provide information on the first steps in doing business with the Commonwealth.

SWaM Certification: Is it Right for Your Business?

Small business owners who are looking to participate in Virginia’s specialized procurement and contracting opportunities are encouraged to become SWaM certified.  SWaM certification provides access to specialized procurement and contracting opportunities. Learn about the SWaM Certification program and designations, the certification process, on-line application portal (live demo), and the required documents needed to apply.

Selling to the Commonwealth: eVA – Virginia’s Online Procurement Portal

eVA is Virginia’s online, electronic procurement system.  A web-based vendor registration and purchasing system that allows state agencies, colleges, universities and many local governments to conduct all purchasing and sourcing activities for goods and services.  Learn how eVA is used to identify the right business opportunities & government buyers.

Session 1:

  • Introduction to Purchasing in the Commonwealth—A Vendor’s Perspective
  • How buyers use the eVA system to “shop.”

Session 2:

  • Navigating eVA’s Free Public Reports
  • Live demo and walk thru of eVA’s Public Reports

The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD) will be conducting 45 minute one-on-one counseling sessions on how to access business development resources, State financing programs (VSBFA), including technical assistance for conducting business with State agencies through SWaM Certification and eVA (Virginia’s Online Procurement Portal).

These 45 minute sessions are by appointment only!!
