Are you interested in becoming certified as a small, women and minority (SWaM) business? If you own and manage a small, women-owned, or a minority-owned business and want to increase sales with the Commonwealth of Virginia, then you need to get SWaM’d!
SWaM (Small, Women, and Minority owned firms) certification is one of the most powerful business tools you can use to grow your sales among state agencies, public colleges and universities, local municipalities, and private sector firms that utilize the SWaM database.
SWaM certification is available to existing for-profit businesses. Last year, the Commonwealth of Virginia spent more than $6 Billion on goods and services. For every $100 the Commonwealth spent on goods and services, $37 went to a SWaM certified vendor. Are you getting your share?
SWaM certification takes 60 – 90 days for processing. The new application portal was launched July 1, 2017 and will dramatically improve the length of time needed for processing.
If you are interested in applying for SWaM Certification , this “Hands On” workshop is for NEW and RE-CERTIFYING applicants. SBSD staff will be on-site to provide assistance with creating account, scanning required documents or answer questions during the application process.
Please be sure to bring ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS ready for scanning or on a flash drive. For a list of required documents needed to apply for certification, CLICK HERE. For additional information on SWaM Certification CLICK HERE.
