The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity in partnership with Eastern Foundry will host a series of Government Contracting Workshops. This is a series of comprehensive workshops focused on Federal and State government contracting. The series offers practical strategies and provide the essential elements small businesses need to be effective in today’s procurement environment.
Workshop 1: Federal Certifications for Success
Tuesday , April 24

Certifications are government-contracting programs that can significantly help your business gain access to government contracts. This workshop will discuss the various U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) small business certifications such as SDB, SDVOSB, WOSB, 8(a), and HUBzone; how to utilize these certifications; and, updates about the programs.

Workshop 2: An Overview of Government Contracting

In this workshop, you will learn about: Direct and Indirect cost, Cost Accumulation Structure, Indirect Cost Pools, Indirect Rates, Accounting for FAR Unallowables Costs, DCAA Accounting Systems Audit, Accounting Policy and Procedures, Accounting and Time sheet software and Major contract types.

Workshop 4: Selling to the Commonwealth

Each year the Commonwealth of Virginia buys goods and services totaling more than $8 billion. The Commonwealth wants to do business with you and increase the participation of small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses. This workshop will provide information about the Virginia procurement process (eVA) and the benefits of SWaM and Micro certifications from DSBSD and is designed to education small, women-owned and minority-owned business owners about opportunities to sell their goods and services to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
