FEDERAL CONTRACTING (SAM)

Presented by Cecelia Cotton, Lead PTAP & Veteran (CVE) Certification Counselor
Virginia Procurement Technical Assistance Program

To do business with the federal government, you MUST self-certify by registering your business in the SAM database. The Federal Acquisitions Regulations (FAR) require all prospective vendors to be registered in SAM prior to the award of a contract, basic agreement, basic ordering agreement, or blanket purchase agreement. Doing so also allows you to register business size and socio-economic status, while completing the required solicitation clauses and certification. This certifies that the information provided about your company and its business are correct.

Attendees of this training will be walked through the self-certification requirements of SAM. Please bring your laptops!

STATE OF VIRGINIA (SWaM)

Presented by Angela Barber, Business Services Manager – Hampton Roads, Virginia Department of Small Business & Supplier Diversity.

If you own and manage a small, women-owned, or a minority-owned business for-profit business and want to increase sales with the Commonwealth of Virginia, then you need to get SWaM’d!

SWaM (Small, Women, and Minority owned firms) certification is one of the most powerful business tools you can use to grow your sales among state agencies, public colleges and universities, local municipalities, and private sector firms that utilize the SWaM database.  Last year, the Commonwealth of Virginia spent more than $6 Billion on goods and services.
